My Political Tally Sheet

The following issues I will research on Obama and McCain and then tally +'s under the candidate that most closely matches my views:
Obama on immigration (from his website) very general when compared to McCain's. It is a must read for yourself. So on this issue McCain gets the +
Obama on Health Care (from his website)and McCain(his website) it's a draw. Both good in theory but a direct drain on US Treasury in the hundreds of billions. no win
Obama on ProLife vs Choice is Choice/including partial birth abortion. I agree with Choice/ but the difficult decision a woman faces can be made in the first trimester, and not at the point the baby can survive but has its brains sucked out in the partial birth abortion. McCain is Prolife, and plans to appoint Supreme Court Judges that are Prolife to overturn Roe vs. Wade and allow each state establish its own ruling on abortion vs. prolife. So, although this is the most difficult one for me, I have to side with McCain.
Well, there are 23 more issues listed on each candidates site, and I will continue to read, study, and tally. But for today's immediate issues of interest for me, it's a draw. I'm right back where I began. I hope with all the home computers and internet access, all voters will do their own investigation. Although our nation does need a leader that is respected, intelligent, and verbally charismatic, do consider the facts in black and white, not sugar coated to intice the tv audiences. Also go to http://www.factcheck.org/ a very skilled nonpartisan, not for profit group of diligent volunteers.

Now What (or who)?

My daughter has decided to vote for one and my husband for the other. They both want me to make a decision based on the facts. Believe me I've heard all the facts for either candidate. I see my targeted issues being addressed with solutions that seemed workable. However, it's not one individual with all the answers.... So I've decided to take the next few days and compile a list of particular issues, view the standing of each candidate, and make a tally sheet of +'s under the candidate/s whose view most closely matches mine. Then after the overview and research is completed, I will add up the tally. The candidate with the higher count will be the one I support. For anyone possibly interested in this outcome, I will post the results Monday, Oct. 13.

This is the first day.....
My title leads me to think about the meaning of "This is the first day of the rest of your life."
To me it means Today is the only day you can forgive yourself, renew your outlook, feed your optimism, and embrace your life (yesterday is history, and tomorrow hasn't happened) However, live this day fully (for it is one more day that you can no longer look forward to) and then think or plan for the possibilities of tomorrow...but be prepared to go with the flow and think on your feet. Life is full of lessons, and your choices and decisions are never cast in stone.
I have found that being honest and open with those who are in my life, whether temporarily or long term, will free my spirit and attitude to rise above the people and situations that are negative, pessimistic, or hopeless. It's crazy to do the same things over and over and expect different results. Don't you know that the only person you can change or will be changed the way you want them to be is YOU....No One Else!
"We're all spiritual beings going through the human experience."
